Learning Languages with Videos? Some Sentences Are Hard to Catch

When watching English videos to learn the language, you often need to replay a sentence multiple times. Dragging the progress bar back and forth is tedious and imprecise. What if you could automatically loop any sentence or passage for focused listening?

DualPiP's Learning Mode was built for exactly this.

What Is Learning Mode?

In the Picture-in-Picture player, press L to open Learning Mode. The video's subtitles appear as a scrollable list in a side panel:

┌──────────────────┬──────────────────────────────┐
│ │ 00:15 Hello everyone. │
│ │ 00:18 Today we'll talk about │
│ Video │ 00:22 the most important... │ ← Subtitle list
│ │ 00:25 Let me show you how. │
│ │ 00:30 First, you need to... │
└──────────────────┴──────────────────────────────┘

The currently playing subtitle is automatically highlighted and scrolled into view, so you always know where you are.

Core Features

1. AB Loop Repeat

When you can't catch a sentence, click the ↻+ button next to it to add it to the loop queue. The player automatically loops within that sentence's time range, with audio fade-in/out for smooth transitions.

  • Multi-loop management: Add multiple sentences to the queue — when one finishes, the next starts automatically
  • Precise timing: Uses requestAnimationFrame for millisecond-accurate looping
  • Fine-tune A/B points: Adjust loop start and end times in the floating toolbar
  • Loop counter: Automatically tracks how many times each sentence has been replayed

2. Multi-Sentence Selection Loop

Want to loop an entire conversation? Enter Selection Mode:

  1. Click the "Select Mode" button in the bottom navigation bar
  2. Click the first subtitle to set the starting point
  3. Shift+click the last subtitle to select the range
  4. Click the "Loop" button in the floating selection bar

The selected subtitles play as one continuous loop interval. The selection bar shows the time range and count for easy confirmation.

3. Floating AB Loop Toolbar

When looping, a draggable floating toolbar appears on screen:

  • Shows current A and B point times
  • ±0.5s fine-tuning buttons for start and end times
  • Pause/resume the loop
  • Loop count display
  • Expand to view and manage multiple loops
  • One-click close all loops

4. Smart Sentence Merge

Many videos have subtitles split by timing, where a single sentence spans multiple lines. Learning Mode automatically merges fragmented subtitles into complete sentences, making reading and looping more natural.

5. Two Panel Layouts

  • Split mode: Video and subtitle list side by side — drag the divider to adjust proportions
  • Collapsed mode: Subtitle appears as a single scrolling bar below the video, saving screen space

Switch between modes anytime — your preference is automatically saved.
