How to Loop Sentences in YouTube for Language Learning

#learning mode#AB loop#subtitle learning#YouTube#Chrome extension#language learning#listening practice#learn with videos

How Do You Repeat a Single Sentence in a YouTube Video?

Install DualPiP, enter Picture-in-Picture mode, press L to open Learning Mode, and click the loop button next to any subtitle. The sentence loops automatically with smooth audio fade-in/out -- no more dragging the progress bar back and forth.

When watching English videos to learn the language, you often need to replay a sentence multiple times. Dragging the progress bar is tedious and imprecise. What if you could automatically loop any sentence or passage for focused listening?

DualPiP's Learning Mode was built for exactly this.

What Is Learning Mode?

Learning Mode turns the Picture-in-Picture player into a language learning tool by displaying all subtitles as a scrollable, clickable list alongside the video.

In the PiP player, press L to open Learning Mode. The video's subtitles appear as a scrollable list in a side panel:

+------------------+------------------------------+
| | 00:15 Hello everyone. |
| | 00:18 Today we'll talk about |
| Video | 00:22 the most important... | <-- Subtitle list
| | 00:25 Let me show you how. |
| | 00:30 First, you need to... |
+------------------+------------------------------+

The currently playing subtitle is automatically highlighted and scrolled into view, so you always know where you are.

What Can You Do with AB Loop Repeat?

AB loop lets you click any subtitle to loop it continuously, with millisecond-accurate timing and smooth audio transitions. You can queue multiple sentences, fine-tune loop boundaries, and track how many times you've replayed each one.

Single Sentence Loop

When you can't catch a sentence, click the loop button next to it. The player automatically loops within that sentence's time range, with audio fade-in/out for smooth transitions.

  • Multi-loop management: Add multiple sentences to the queue -- when one finishes, the next starts automatically
  • Precise timing: Uses requestAnimationFrame for millisecond-accurate looping
  • Fine-tune A/B points: Adjust loop start and end times in the floating toolbar
  • Loop counter: Automatically tracks how many times each sentence has been replayed

Multi-Sentence Selection Loop

Want to loop an entire conversation? Enter Selection Mode:

  1. Click the "Select Mode" button in the bottom navigation bar
  2. Click the first subtitle to set the starting point
  3. Shift+click the last subtitle to select the range
  4. Click the "Loop" button in the floating selection bar

The selected subtitles play as one continuous loop interval.

Floating AB Loop Toolbar

When looping, a draggable floating toolbar appears on screen:

  • Shows current A and B point times
  • +/-0.5s fine-tuning buttons for start and end times
  • Pause/resume the loop
  • Loop count display
  • Expand to view and manage multiple loops
  • One-click close all loops

Smart Sentence Merge

Many videos have subtitles split by timing, where a single sentence spans multiple lines. Learning Mode automatically merges fragmented subtitles into complete sentences, making reading and looping more natural.

Two Panel Layouts

  • Split mode: Video and subtitle list side by side -- drag the divider to adjust proportions
  • Collapsed mode: Subtitle appears as a single scrolling bar below the video, saving screen space

Switch between modes anytime -- your preference is automatically saved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which websites does Learning Mode support?

All websites supported by DualPiP's Picture-in-Picture mode, including YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Coursera, TED, and 100+ more.

Does it work with bilingual subtitles?

Yes. When bilingual subtitles are enabled, the subtitle list shows both the original and translated text -- ideal for language learners who want to compare meanings while listening.

What's the difference between split and collapsed mode?

Split mode is ideal for larger screens with video and subtitles side by side. Collapsed mode is better for smaller windows with subtitles as a scrolling bar.

Will the audio cut off abruptly during looping?

No. AB loops use audio fade-in/fade-out technology for smooth, natural transitions.

Can I use this on my phone?

Learning Mode works in DualPiP's Picture-in-Picture player on desktop browsers (Chrome and Edge). For mobile video gesture controls, see our Gestify mobile guide.
