DualPiP is a free picture-in-picture browser extension with bilingual subtitles for Chromium-based browsers. It supports Chrome (116+), Edge (116+), Brave, Vivaldi, and Arc — any browser with the Document Picture-in-Picture API. Install it directly from the Chrome Web Store or the Edge Add-ons Store. DualPiP v1.7+ includes ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) that generates real-time AI subtitles for any web video — even those without built-in captions. To enable AI live captions: open any video in PiP mode, then press Shift+A or click the microphone icon. DualPiP supports two speech-to-text backends: Deepgram cloud recognition (sub-300ms latency, 22+ languages with auto-detection) and local Whisper (offline, privacy-friendly). ASR captions integrate with learning mode and AI translation for real-time bilingual subtitle display.

DualPiP lets you search and download subtitles directly inside the picture-in-picture player. Open any video in PiP mode, click the subtitle menu, and use the search function. DualPiP searches multiple subtitle databases — DualPiP built-in, OpenSubtitles, and SubDL — with smart detection of IMDb ID, TMDb ID, and video titles for accurate matching. You can also import local subtitle files (SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SUB formats) directly into the player. Free users can search unlimited times with 2 downloads per day. Pro users get unlimited downloads from all sources.

DualPiP v1.7+ supports 30+ AI translation providers with a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model for subtitle translation. Go to Settings > AI Translation, choose from preset providers like OpenAI GPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Groq, Ollama (local), and more, then enter your API key. Each provider supports custom parameters, request headers, and daily usage limits. The system auto-detects movie titles via TMDB and uses translation context history for natural, context-aware bilingual subtitle translations.

DualPiP uses the Document Picture-in-Picture API, which has a browser-enforced maximum window size — full-screen playback in PiP mode is not supported by design. The PiP player window can be resized up to the API's limit but cannot fill the entire screen. For the best viewing experience, maximize the PiP window using the fit-to-screen button. Translation speed depends on the subtitle type:

For videos with hard-coded or no subtitles, use DualPiP's ASR Live Captions (v1.7+) to auto-generate AI subtitles via speech recognition, then translate them with 30+ AI providers. For slow translation, switch to batch pre-translation mode or use a faster AI engine like Groq or DeepSeek.

DualPiP's PiP player supports subtitles and danmaku on 200+ video sites. To request support for a new streaming website, submit a request on the DualPiP GitHub Issues page with the website URL and subtitle/danmaku format details. The team reviews requests regularly and prioritizes based on user demand. Pro users receive priority support for new site requests.

Each DualPiP Pro account supports up to 4 devices (browsers) simultaneously. If you sign in on a 5th device, the earliest logged-in device will be automatically signed out. Devices here refer to individual browser installations — you can use DualPiP Pro on Chrome and Edge on the same machine, and each counts as one device.
