Version 2.0
DualPiP v2.0.0 brings audio to Picture-in-Picture: pop out podcasts and Spotify in a floating window with live AI captions, switch to Audio Mode, auto-start AI captions, and highlight words karaoke-style.
DualPiP v2.0 Release Notes
DualPiP v2.0 brings audio to Picture-in-Picture: podcasts, Spotify, and other pages that only have sound can now play in an always-on-top window with live AI captions. The new Audio Mode hides the picture and keeps the sound and captions, so you can follow a video like a podcast. AI Captions can also start automatically when a page has none, and spoken words can be highlighted karaoke-style. Works on Spotify, podcast sites, YouTube, Twitch, Bilibili, online courses, and any website.

v2.0.0
2026-11-01Added
- Picture-in-Picture for Audio: Works on audio-only pages and on sites that keep the audio outside the page player (such as Spotify podcasts, with new Spotify support). The window shows cover art (the video poster, the page's album art, or its share image), shrinks to a compact control bar when there is no cover and no captions, and opens from a right-click on audio
- AI Captions for Audio: Podcasts, Spotify, and other audio can get AI captions, which stay in sync with the sound (more accurate timing for MP3 and MP4 files)
- Audio Mode: A new “Audio Mode” button on the control bar hides the video but keeps the sound and captions, so you can follow a video like a podcast
- Auto-Start AI Captions: When captions are on and a page has none, AI Captions start by themselves (on by default; turn it off in Settings or site preferences). A notice appears the first time, so you can keep it on or turn it off
- Karaoke Word Highlighting: Besides changing the text color, you can now highlight each spoken word with an underline or a background color, and dim the words not yet spoken. Adjust it in the AI Captions menu or in caption settings
- Clear Reasons When Picture-in-Picture Won't Start: The popup now says whether the page needs a refresh, no video or audio was found, or something else went wrong. Errors in the window (embedded players, DRM protection, unsupported browsers, and more) are clearer and tell you what to do next
- AI Captions Usage: See your AI Captions usage for your own API key and for daily limits in Settings
Changed
- After you install, update, or reload the extension, pages that were already open need a refresh (otherwise players and audio already on the page are missed); the popup’s Picture-in-Picture button becomes “Refresh page” and explains why
- Trial-ending, rating, and upgrade reminders now appear after you close the Picture-in-Picture window, so they no longer interrupt your viewing
- Alert cards, popups, and the sign-in / upgrade dialogs were redesigned: quota reminders now share the top-left card, text always shows in full, small windows get a more compact layout, plain notices fade out after 12 seconds, and dialogs give wording that fits each feature
- The audio used for built-in language detection now counts toward your AI Captions time
Improved
- In small Picture-in-Picture windows, control bar menus, dialogs, alert cards, and the A-B toolbar fit inside the window, and the right-hand buttons collapse only when they no longer fit
- The “waiting for captions” notice now appears after a short delay, so it no longer flashes when captions load normally, and translations appear sooner
Fixed
- Fixed: audio or video on the page going silent after closing the Picture-in-Picture window when the equalizer was on
- Fixed: Qwen live recognition guessing the wrong language during auto-detection (for example Turkish treated as an Arabic-script language)
FAQ
Can Picture-in-Picture play podcasts or Spotify audio?
Yes. v2.0 supports audio-only pages and sites that keep the audio outside the page player, adds Spotify support, and lets you open the window with a right-click on audio.
Can podcasts and audio get captions?
Yes. Audio can get live AI captions, shown in the Picture-in-Picture window and kept in sync with the sound.
What is Audio Mode?
Click “Audio Mode” on the control bar to hide the picture while keeping the sound and captions.
Why do I need to refresh pages after updating?
Pages that were already open are not injected automatically, so they only detect players and audio after a refresh. The popup button changes to “Refresh page” to tell you.
